Freebies on Top of Others
We often see product brochures introducing free add-on items for you to take advantage of. Freebies are products added to an item or service being promoted. As buyers, we often get that feeling of extra value when we purchase products that have freebies attached. We think of the value or savings we enjoy with the freebies added rather than buying it separately.
Why do companies offer freebies? These items are not totally free, at least not to the company that makes or sells them! Believe me, they aren’t giving them away for nothing! You need to do something for them in return. Taking surveys, referring a friend, or buying a product are just some of the simple ways where a consumer can take advantage of freebies. Adding freebies to the picture can often entice a consumer to the product, although the risk is it can sometimes drive the attention away from the main item.
While we eat at some food chains, representatives will then offer us a promotion. Upgrade your budget meal by adding a dollar and we will add this to your meal. This is a common methodology we hear from companies offering the freebies. We are first introduced with the add-on and then the savings follow. Great deal!
Isn’t great to know that you can get an extra item at no or minimum cost? Be careful however! Some freebies are actually charged to you. While we think that freebies offer discounts, some do not. Other freebies are actually items added on top of others and packed as one. The value or price of the freebie is then added to the original price of the main item or service being offered. This is why we think that we are getting the best value not knowing that we are paying more than the real price.
